This, basically. As others have said, GW2 isn't balanced around 1v1's. It doesn't really matter what build/profession you choose there will always be other builds/professions that give you a very hard time. Over all, I'd say Mesmers, Thieves, Necromancers and Rangers are best suited for 1v1's but that doesn't mean the remaining professions are GW2. Best Open World Build. Celestial Firebrand.
